What happens in RealTime becomes a real-life experience for the participants. A frequent complaint is “this is too much like work”. Well, that is exactly what we are trying to create. The difference is that RealTime offers the opportunity to gain meaningful learning from the experience. This course is about Real Learning.

The simulation is stopped regularly to reflect on three basic questions:

1. What is going on with the organization and what needs to happen to make it more successful?

2. What is going on with your team and what needs to happen for the team to be more effective and contribute more to the success of the organization?

3. What is going on with you personally, and what do you personally need to do to be more effective and contribute more?

During RealTime these questions become more specific as the evolving business and interpersonal dynamics become opportunities for important and more in-depth learning. Our role as learning leaders is to do minimal teaching, search for and capture the “teaching moment” and make sure meaningful learning happens… Real Learning.

Bringing Real Life into the Classroom
Mirroring personal and organizational dynamics in rapidly changing and demanding business environments, the simulated business is a multi-divisional company that operates in a highly competitive environment. The challenge is for the participants to build an effective and high-performing organization by getting their collective act together, capitalizing on the capabilities of the other participants, and applying themselves by maximizing their own contribution. As life unfolds in the simulation, the organization is challenged both from within and from outside, requiring participants to exercise their business, organizational and interpersonal skills, and to find out how they can best contribute to the success of the organization from whatever position they occupy.
